IAH Mission
To promote research aimed at:
- elucidating basic mechanisms of ageing;
- understanding the major causes of ill health and disability in older people, and developing effective preventative and therapeutic measures;
- assessing the prevalence, incidence and cost of such conditions so that the most effective use can be made of resources;
- measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of care delivery systems for older people, and developing innovative forms of medical and social care;
- increasing training, information and guidance to the providers of care for older people, whether in health or social services, voluntary organisations or the independent sector.
To foster the translation of age related research for social and economic benefit.
To deliver quality education and training to improve understanding of age related issues and grow research capacity.
To improve the involvement of the public in age related research.
