Education and Training

Postgraduate studentMembers of the Institute for Ageing and Health currently supervise a growing community of about 40 PhD and MD students and the Institute currently administers the award of about ten PhD studentships per year, and can provide projects in a wide range of investigative areas.

The Institute provides excellent opportunities for training and education in research through its Biological and Clinical Ageing and Systems Biology modules within the Medical and Molecular Biosciences MRes programme and through PhD and MD supervision.

The MRes in Medical and Molecular Biosciences is a 12-month degree comprising taught modules and a major research project (20 weeks). This course is suitable for both science and medical graduates and can lead directly to PhD studies. Completion of one of the modules taught from the Institute for Ageing and Health, and a suitable project can result in the award of an MRes (Ageing) or MRes(Systems Biology).
