Location: Great Gable Seminar Room, CARU
Time/Date: 9th January 2013, 12:15 - 13:00
We will be hosting a special seminar on Wednesday 9 January 2013. The seminar will take place at 12.15pm in Great Gable Seminar Room, CARU, followed by lunch in the Changing Age Seminar Room, 2nd Floor NBRB.
The speaker will be Professor Simon Melov from the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, USA and the title of the talk is "Single Cell Genomics, and Translational Approaches to Using Experimental Models of Aging".
Dr Melov will describe his recent work developing single cell approaches to studying ageing in heart disease and in bone. He will also include his pioneering work on inducible mouse models of mitochondrial oxidative stress and heart disease, coupled with therapeutic approaches for the ageing heart via treatment with rapamycin. Simon has also conducted studies on human muscle ageing both at the level of fundamental mechanisms and in relation to exercise interventions in older people.
This will be a seminar of broad interest for those involved in the IAH, BRC and CIMA.
All welcome.
