Getting Involved

Grandfather and grandchildrenThe Institute encourages a wide range of people to become involved in addressing issues of healthy ageing, support for older people and demographic change.  There are a variety of ways in which you can support us and our research agenda or ensure that your own views and experience are represented.

Financial Donations

We are always grateful for financial donations, large or small, in support of specific pieces of research or our wider agenda. They allow us to take on charitable projects for which we are unable to recover all of our costs. If you would like to make a donation please contact us for further discussion.

Participation in Studies

Our research groups often need to recruit subjects for studies.  Although their needs are often very specific, we welcome enquiries from people who would like to contribute in this way.

Many of our laboratory studies rely on donations of post-mortem brain and tissue samples. If you would like more details on this, please visit the Newcastle Brain Tissue Resource webpages.

Contribute your Views and Experience

Make your views and experience count through membership of our partner organisation, Years Ahead – the north east regional forum on ageing and by joining a new project operated as a partnership between the Institute for Ageing and Health and years ahead, VoiceNorth.

Years ahead is a partnership organisation, primarily intended to represent the views of older people in the development of regional policy and strategy.  VoiceNorth provides your opportunity to consider a variety of issues of how our society should be shaped to better support us all as we age in this era of demographic change.
