I am a Registed Public Health Nutritionist and a State Registered Dietitian. I currently hold the position of Professor in Nutrition and Oral Health and am Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Nutrition and Oral Health

Dietary intervention in older people in community and care.
Food prepartion interventions as a means to promote healthier eating.
The impact of toothloss and prosthetic rehabiliation on diet and eating related quality of life.
The relationship between diet and oral health in children.

I currently supervise two overseas PhD students.

Funding

Research has been funded by the Research Councils New Dynamics of Ageing Programme, the Food Standards Agency, the Department of Health, the Borrow Foundation and the NHS.

Undergraduate Teaching

I am Course leader for Metabolism and Homeostasis in Stage 1 BDS and for Nutrition and Diet in Stage 2 BDS and Diploma in Dental Hygiene. I contribute to courses on Oral Environment, Digestion, Excretion and Fluid Balance and Child Dental Health in the Dental undergraduate curriculum. I also contribute to courses in the Human Nutrition Degree programme and the MBBS course.
