Dietary intervention in older people in community and care.
Food preparation interventions as a means to promote healthier eating.
The impact of tooth loss and prosthetic rehabilitation on diet and eating related quality of life.
The relationship between diet and oral health in children.

Esteem Indicators 

I was awarded an International Association for Dental Research Distinguished Scientist Award for 'Geriatric Oral Research' in 2010.

I am an external adivsor on sugars and dental caries, to the WHO NUGAG Committee

I was awarded the Nutrition Society Silver Medal in July 2004 for 'Excellence in research by a young scientist'

I am Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Nutrition and Oral Health

Funding

Research has been funded by the Research Councils New Dynamics of Ageing Programme, the Food Standards Agency, the Department of Health, the Borrow Foundation and the NHS.

Projects

Undergraduate Teaching

I am course leader for Metabolism and Homeostasis in Stage 1 BDS and for Nutrition and Diet in Stage 2 BDS and Diploma in Dental Hygiene. I contribute to courses on Oral Environment, Digestion, Excretion and Fluid Balance and Child Dental Health in the Dental undergraduate curriculum. I also contribute to courses in the Human Nutrition Degree programme and the MMed Sci in Ageing and Health.
