Introduction

I provide the clinical lead for the day to day running of the Children's Bone Marrow Transplant unit in the Great North Children's Hospital.

Background

Started on the Children's BMT unit in November 1999 after working in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Became an Associate Specialist in August 2004.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide the clinical lead for the daily running of the Children's BMT unit.
Development of the longterm follow up programme.
Extensive involvement in clinical research for children with Primary Immunodeficiency undergoing HSCT.

Research Interests

New conditioning regimens for transplanting children with Primary Immunodeficiency.
Longterm follow up of patients with PID post Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Current Work

Joint experience Newcastle/Great Ormond Street Hospital of using treosulfan-based conditioning regimens.
Haploidentical transplantation for SCID using CD3/CD19 depletion.

Future Research

Longterm follow up studies.
