Around a third of our postgraduates are from overseas, and we welcome applications from international students for PhD projects in many areas of cellular medicine.
Non-native English speakers will be required to provide evidence of their ability in the language, but the University can offer language training if necessary.
International postgraduate applications are treated the same as our UK and EU ones - all applications should be made via the Newcastle University online application system.
If you wish to discuss your application in more detail, or need any further information, please contact either the relevant member of staff for your research area, or the Director of International Studies, Prof. Steve Yeaman.
As part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, we have a small number of Overseas Research Student Awards for outstanding international students who wish to undertake doctoral (PhD) study. Funding opportunities are also available through the Newcastle University International Postgraduate Scholarship (NUIPS).
EU students seeking funding can normally apply for our advertised studentships, many of which are funded by UK Research Councils.
