The dermatology research group undertakes research directed towards the understanding and development of better treatments for debilitating inflammatory skin disease (such as psoriasis) and life-threatening skin cancer (such as melanoma).
There is a close working relationship between dermatologists in the clinic and basic scientists in the laboratory with the aim of translating scientific discoveries for the benefit of patients and the NHS.
Through active engagement in world wide collaborations, this group promotes public engagement in science thereby facilitating the transfer of key scientific findings from bench to bedside.
If you are concerned about skin problems you should contact your doctor to discuss it. If you are interested in finding out more about skin disease, and our research into its causes and treatments, or are interested in participating in our research you are encouraged to contact Prof Mark Birch-Machin.
