The EADHB Gene Expression Database |
A Prototype gene-expression database has been developed within the EADHB by adapting the mouse atlas gene-expression database (EMAGE) and the EURexpress gene-expression database. Gene-expression patterns are stored within the database on a common spatial framework, consisting of a series of 3D models, one for each Carnegie Stage from CS12 to CS23. The user is able to perform spatial queries and analysis. The software used allows the user to develop their own private database onto which they can map gene-expression patterns. Users will be able to record details of the specimen, probe, experimental conditions, images of the data itself and also images of the data being mapped onto the corresponding 3D model within the digital atlas. These expression patterns can then be queried within the private database, compared to data from the central database and, when the user is ready, uploaded readily to the central database.
A live version of the EADHB Gene-Expression Database is available and requires Java 1.4.2 (currently only a limited amount of data is available). The screen shots below illustrate its general format. Please click on any thumbnail images below to access a series of images illustrating the use and interface of the database. Clicking on the browsers will allow you to view sample data.
