High throughput sequencing and genotyping
NewGene is a newly established commercial partnership between the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University. The company was set up to address an identified need within the NHS and the wider health sector both nationally and globally. The company has a strong relationship with our local NHS Northern Genetics Service with a fully accredited molecular genetic laboratory service, and it’s key directors and staff are respected and trusted within the NHS genetics community (clinical and laboratory services). Previously, the IGM had a full-time Sequenom technician, who was responsible for providing Sequenom services to IGM research groups, other Newcastle University research groups and also a small number of companies and other university departments across the UK. However, a decision has now been taken to take advantage of NewGene expertise and ask the company to provide all our University Sequenom requirements.
