Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer

I am Consultant Endocrinologist at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Institute of Human Genetics, University of Newcastle upon Tyne. I read Biochemistry and Physiology in Newcastle, then Medicine at the same University. I trained in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine and Diabetes in Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh. I obtained my MD thesis with commenedation from the University of Newcastle.

 My clinical and research interests are in thyroid diseases and in optimising delivery of care to patients with endocrine diseases. 

My research focus is Graves' orbitopathy. I am a member (currently chairman) of the European Group on Graves' Orbitopathy, a consortium engaged in multicentre clinical trials on Graves' orbitopathy.
I teach medical students and trainees in Endocrinology and otheer specialities. I organise and participate in a European Programme delivering clinical teaching to endocrinologists and ophthalmologists annually (EUGOGO teaching courses).
