Renal and Complement Genetics

The IHG has in the past decade developed an international reputation in the field of renal genetics. This has been facilitated by the establishment of well characterised cohorts of patients with atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome (aHUS), vesicoureteric reflux (VUR), cystic renal disease and nephrolithiasis. The discovery that aHUS is a disease of complement dysregulation has led to a specific interest in complement genetics.
