I did my PhD at Newcastle University (Wolfson Unit). My thesis was entitled: "Drinking, illicit drug use, stress and other lifestyle variables in medical students and doctors". During my time doing my PhD I was involved with the 'Healthy Medical School' and helped develop the alcohol policy for the medical school. After finishing my PhD I worked for a year with Prof Nick Heather and Prof Eileen Kaner as the HAZ Alcohol Strategy Co-ordinator. I then worked with Prof Lawrence Sherman (Cambridge University) and Dr. Heather Strang (Australian National University) on a 3 centre randomised controlled trial examining restorative justice across the criminal justice system (outcomes: victim satisfaction and re-offending behaviour).
