In her current position as Research Fellow within the Institute of Health and society, Joanne is working with pregnant women and local obstetricans, midwives and anaesthetists to examine current decision-making processes in regarding pain reief in labour. This work will form the basis of her PhD which she is undertaking on a part-time basis
Research Interests
Quality in Health Care, including using comparative quality indicators to assess acute care.
Decision making in health care, in areas where the decision and the action are separated by time or place
Current Work
Assessing what decisions are made regarding pain relif in labour, with a view to developing a decision tool to assist professionals and women to make decisions during labour
