Epidemiological studies of childhood cancer, histiocytoses (rare diseases of the immune system), other rare diseases, childhood disability.

Current work

2007- Study of the long-term sequelae of radiation exposure due to CT scanning in children and young people.

2010- EPI-CT - Epidemiological study to quantify risks for paediatric computerised tomography and to optimise doses - EU collaborative study. 

2011- Long-term risks associated with fluoroscopic cardiology procedures in children.

2012-15 Studies on adults with histiocytic disorders in Newcastle and the Northeast region. 

2012/13- Histiocytic disorders in children with congenital anomalies: a population-based record linkage study.

Research Roles

PI on histiocyte studies. Occasional reviewer for Paediatric Blood and Cancer and Acta Paediatrica.  Supervision of one PhD student and one MRes student.
