Introduction

I am a Reader in lifecourse epidemiology in the Institute of Health and Society. I am also Director of the Newcastle Thousand Families Study.

My research primarily focusses in two areas: i) lifecourse epidemiology of chronic disease and ii) the effects of radiation on health.

My teaching focuses on epidemiology. I lead the MRes (Epidemiology) and also the MRes Clinical Epidemiology module as well as contributing to other teaching courses. I have a number of current Phd and MSc students and usually have opportunities for PhD, MRes, MSc and MMathStat projects. 

 

Research Interests

Lifecourse and radiation epidemiology, epidemiological study design, epidemiological uses of statistics

Current Work

Director of the Newcastle Thousand Families Study.
PI on a study investigating the potential long-term effects of having CT scans in childhood and early adulthood.
Involved in a number of other studies.
