Abstract: We provide an alternative explanation for the findings of the latest UKCCS report by Roman et al. Instead of the suggestion that early infections may trigger an abnormal immune response in the development of childhood leukemia, we propose that the observed association with frequent infections is a sign of subtle immunodeficiency resulting in increased leukemia risk.
