We are delighted that you are considering studying at Newcastle and hope to welcome you to the University in the near future!
The UK is a popular study destination for Indian students due to its reputation for high quality education. In addition, because your curriculum is focused on your specialized field, degree programmes are shorter in length than in many other countries. A Bachelor’s degree can be obtained in three years and a Master’s degree in just one year - so it’s a quicker and cost effective route to your future career. What’s more? You gain a fantastic international experience, build interpersonal skills such as independence and confidence and make connections with fellow students from all over the world!
Newcastle University is a traditional university and we have a proud history of teaching dating back to 1834. A member of the prestigious Russell Group of research-based institutions, we are one of the best in the world, ranking in the top 1% of world universities. Academic excellence, a strong reputation for research, high graduate employability, a city centre campus and an amazing student experience are some of the key factors that attract students to Newcastle from across the globe.
Situated in the heart of one of the UK’s most dynamic student cities, Newcastle University is home to more than 23,000 students including 4,000 International students from more than 120 countries. With a staff complement of more than 5,000, Newcastle’s reputation has resulted in attracting some of the leading academics and researchers from around the globe, opening up access to a wealth of international experience and expertise to you as our student. We are addressing three major societal challenge themes that have a significant impact on society. These themes are: Ageing, Sustainability and Social Renewal.
Famously fun-loving and infectiously friendly, Newcastle is the UK’s favourite city (Guardian Readers' Travel Awards 2014) and one of those rare places where you instantly feel at home. One in six people is a student, which helps to create the city's energetic social scene and world-class culture. Big enough to be yourself but never overwhelming, Newcastle has arts, music, shopping and sport right in the city centre and we're just 25 minutes' from beautiful beaches via the underground Metro system. In addition, our long spring and summer vacations provide amazing opportunities to travel around the UK and Europe. With Newcastle airport just 15 minutes from campus and France, Spain, Italy and Croatia each a 2-3 hour flight away, this is your chance to see world-famous sites such as the Colosseum and the Eiffel Tower.
