Accommodation
Newcastle University can guarantee accommodation to all international students for one year. You must meet the conditions stated in the Undergraduate New Students' Guarantee or the Postgraduate New Students' Guarantee.
We offer a variety of reasonably priced undergraduate and postgraduate accommodation. The majority of our sites are located within a 10-minute walk of the campus and city centre amenities. We offer catered, self-catered or family accommodation.
International students are integrated fully into student life as you will typically live with both UK and other international students.
University accommodation provides students with a secure environment in which they can learn to become independent and make new friends:
- all of the University residences are regularly patrolled by the University’s security team
- many residential sites also have a number of additional security measures including a 24-hour reception, CCTV in public areas, secure phone entry systems, and bicycle storage facilities
- a team of wardens and senior residents live within the residences and provide pastoral support for students living in halls during out-of-office hours
Once you have received an offer of a place to study at Newcastle you can make an application for accommodation using the online system. Your offer letter will provide you with details about how to apply.
Some students prefer to live in private accommodation, but this can be difficult to arrange from overseas. For advice about how to search for alternative accommodation contact the Accommodation Office.
