Pre-Departure Checklist
Your pre-departure checklist can be viewed below:
- Before you leave home, make sure you have returned the following documentation to the University:
- Proof of your results or any other conditions you may have been asked to meet (for a conditional offer)
- Accommodation application form by the due date
- Pre-Sessional English Language course application form, if appropriate
- Booking forms for International Welcome Service and Programme
- Ensure you have made arrangements for:
- Immigration - including obtaining passport/identity and card and all visas that may be required
- Travel
- Money to cover all your costs, both long- and short-term
- Health insurance, if appropriate
- Insurance of your personal belongings (this can be done on your arrival, but you might like travel insurance for your journey)
- Passport photos (you will need a few for the start of term)
- Chest X-ray, if applicable
- Medical/dental check
- Details of all your previous inoculations
- Remember to pack in your hand-luggage:
- Passport, including any student and transit visas necessary
- Original letter from the University saying you have been unconditionally accepted onto a full-time programme of study
- Documentary evidence that you can meet the cost of your programme of study and all of your living expenses. (This can be a banker's draft, written evidence of having been awarded a scholarship, or a letter from your sponsor)
- Travel insurance
- About £250 in travellers’ cheques and cash for your costs during the first few days. Some of this should be in small notes, for buying bus and/or train tickets and food.
- Evidence of a recent medical check-up and chest X-ray (if this was recommended when you applied for your visa)
- A copy of your 'offer of accommodation' from the Accommodation Office to help you gain access to your accommodation
