You need a good level of English language to study at Newcastle University. You'll need to provide a recognised English language test or qualification unless you're exempt. This is usually a test score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, but requirements can vary between IELTS 6.0 and 8.0. All students need at least 5.5 in each sub-skill, or equivalent.
You need to include a copy of your English language test certificate when you apply for your course. If you don't have it yet you need to send it to us as soon as you receive it. We accept scanned versions or photocopies. If we need an original certificate we'll ask you.
We accept various English language tests and qualifications (PDF: 205KB) for visa purposes.
