International Summer School

Whether you are about to start University, already studying at University or have an interest in an educational holiday, our summer schools two different programme choices can meet your needs.

You can choose to spend three weeks studying one of the following Academic Programmes*:

* Programmes for Summer 2011

Each programme will be made up of a minimum of 16 hours contact time each week (a combination of seminars, lectures, tutorials and field trips) and approximately 18 hours of self-directed study. The exceptions to this are the Biotechnology, Medicine and Pollution Summer School, which include a higher proportion of contact hours and less teaching time.

The Internship Programme

The 10 week internship programme is for students looking to work and study abroad. For the first seven weeks students are placed in a host company in the Newcastle area and for the final three weeks students join one of the academic programmes.

Newcastle University is the only UK university that offers a tailor-made assessed, internship programme for international students. We will not only arrange the internship for you, but offer support and academic guidance throughout the programme to enable students to gain the most from their work experience. In addition, the 10 week programme receives 30 UK credits which equates to 15 ECTS or 8 US credits.

If you are a student applying for the Internship programme you should be interested in:

  • Building your CV/resume by developing new skills and gaining practical experience in a real business environment
  • Targeting your work experience to the type of job you would like to get after graduation
  • Going global and showing prospective employers that you are thinking internationally
  • Broadening your cultural awareness and communication skills by working, studying and living abroad

Who should apply:

You are over 18, have a good academic record and have an IELTS of 6.5 (TOEFL 575, IBT 90) or equivalent. Apply for International Summer School
