The most recent instalment of the Annual International Student Barometer, which measures international student satisfaction at 270 Universities and Colleges worldwide, has revealed year-on-year growth in International student satisfaction at Newcastle since the surveys began in 2005.
The survey, last conducted in Autumn 2009 and involving over 150,000 students worldwide, highlights the strong commitment to internationalisation at the University, with overall satisfaction now standing at 91%, an increase of 15% in just five years.
Particular strengths in Newcastle include our award-winning careers service, which ranked 2nd out of the 91 institutions surveyed in this category. Students also praised the opportunities for work experience offered by the University and the support offered in finding employment after graduation.
Our library facilities, which have consistently ranked in the top 10 worldwide, saw student satisfaction increase again to 93%.
Likewise, the University’s comprehensive visa support service, a key concern for students following the introduction of the new visa regulations in the UK, rated very highly with students; satisfaction levels have increased by almost 4% since autumn 2008.
Professor Ella Ritchie, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) said: “These results demonstrate that students from all over the world recognise the excellent student experience and support services at Newcastle University.
“However, we are not complacent and we will listen to what the students are telling us. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the survey results in detail with a view to building on our strengths and identifying any areas where students are telling us that we may be able to make improvements.”
