'What's in My Head?' was a Brain Awareness Week 2005 project, supported by the North East England Arts Council Lottery Foundation and North East England Sony Centres.
Schoolchildren in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear, were asked to submit original artwork representing 'what's in their head'. This is displayed in our online gallery, and was combined by local artist Naomi James to make a series of public exhibitions, the centrepiece of which was a video sequence containing and inspired by the work received. More than 15 schools, and 600 pupils in the North East participated.

Researchers at the Institute of Neuroscience, together with Naomi James, developed learning materials through which schools and individuals could participate. These include a ready-made 60 minute creative workshop in brain science for pupils in the 5-15 age band, which remains available for reuse:
