Understanding Animal Research
Research Interests
I am interested in anaesthesia and analgesia of laboratory animals and how this affects the welfare of those animals.
Current Work
I am currently funded by the UK National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research to examine whether carbon dioxide is a humane euthanasia agent for laboratory rodents. I am using a range of behavioural techniques to examine whether animals exposed to carbon dioxide experience significant levels of stress or distress and whether alternative methods cause less stress.
