I did my medical school training in Cambridge (2000-2003) and Oxford (2003-2006) and I have worked as an academic foundation trainee in the Oxford deanery (2006-2008) and an academic clinical fellow in the Northern Deanery (2008-2011).

My career aim is to become an academic ophthalmologist with an interest in old-age and neuro-ophthalmology

I am the principal investigator on the comprehensive local research network portfolio study “Cataract and Cognitive impairment” which is using quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the impact of cognitive impairment on cataract surgery outcomes for older people.  My duties include oversight of the design, governance and running of the study; recruitment of participants; data collection; data analysis and data interpretation.
I lecture on the MRES in ageing and health and the MSc MEDSci degree programmes at Newcastle University
