After escaping a potential IT/electronics career, Robin attained his Ph.D in Occupational Psychology at The University Of Sheffield. Whilst studying technology adoption in large engineering companies from a sociotechnical perspective, he became more interested in supporting the computing aspects of other people's research than doing his own, taking a job doing just that at The Institute of Work Psychology at the University of Sheffield, and later at The Institute of Neuroscience, Newcastle University. For much of the time Robin doesn't do 'just that'. Robin works to ensure that the IT backbone of IoN's research benefits from exploitation of new technlogies.
