The Institute of Neuroscience offers a variety of opportunities for postgraduate research and training, in a broad range of areas including cellular and molecular neurobiology, systems neuroscience, animal behaviour, neuroimaging, psychiatry and psychology.
Postgraduate students are an important part of IoN and they are represented by the Postgraduate Research Community of the Institute of Neuroscience (prIoN) who take part in Institute committees and decision making. They can offer support and advice to all IoN students and organise a number of social events throughout the year, why not look them up on Facebook.
We offer both Doctoral (PhD and MD) and Masters (MRes and MPhil) level research degrees in all our research themes.
The MRes in Neuroscience is a Masters degree which combines taught elements with a substantive research project. Both taught modules and the research project are focused on subjects within the Neuroscience area.

Researchers in the Institute of Neuroscience also deliver lectures on a number of undergraduate degree programmes which contributes to the consistent success of these subjects in UK and International league tables. Programmes which contain extensive neuroscience content include:
A large number of undergraduates studying for all these degrees choose to undertake their final year research projects within research laboratories in the Institute of Neuroscience. Summer vacation scholarships are also available in the Institute of Neuroscience for students wishing to gain experience in neuroscience research.
