Staff
We provide computing and IT facilities for staff across campus, in the form of
- Windows XP clusters
- staff desktops
- data services
- other computing requirements
Central to our current strategy is the Campus Managed Desktop, based on Windows
XP, which provides powerful centrally maintained services throughout the University.
There are three versions for
- student clusters
- administrative and secretarial staff
- suitably equipped academic and research staff who wish to participate
We also have
- a limited Macintosh service
- Unix academic computing services (time-sharing systems and
Linux workstations)
- a vast array of software
to support academic teaching and research
- wireless networking
for members of the University
- email facilities including
a remote webmail service
Support
ISS provides documentation
and support resources which direct
users to the best resources for self-help.
Person-to-person support is provided by
- the IT Service Desk
- offering 'first aid' at Help Desks in Cluster Rooms
- specialist Applications Advisers
