Overnight Maintenance to PC services 16/03/10

Some users will be unable to access their Home Folder, shared filestores and some PC services on and off campus, commencing 19:00 Tuesday 16th March 2010.

Date/Time: Tuesday 16th March 2010 19:00 - Wednesday 17th March 2010 02:00

Overnight maintenance and system upgrades will be made to University PC services from 19:00 on Tuesday 16th March to 02:00 on Wednesday 17th March 2010 affecting their availability.

Maintenance will be carried out to the Windows Profile Service which means that some users will not be able to login to PCs on campus or access RAS.

Users with their Home Folder located on either TOWER4 or TOWER6 will also not be able to login at University PCs, access the RAS service or use Webfolders during this time. Outlook Web Access will be available, but users will not be able to save attachments to Drive H.

Please note: ShadowCopies on these servers made prior to this period will be lost.

To determine if you are affected by this work, use the CMDInfo tool: this ISS Tip provides details. Look for the text beginning "Your ISS home directory (H: drive) is \\towerx\": if this says"\\tower4\" or "\\tower6\" then you will be affected.

Maintenance will also be carried out to the Shared Filestore Service during this period, and all shares on TURRET1, TURRET2 and TURRET3 (the majority of shares under \\campus\dept and \\campus\rdw) should be considered 'at risk'.

ShadowCopies will not be lost on this service.

In addition, the following services may be interrupted and should be considered 'at risk' throughout the maintenance period:

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to have this essential work completed as soon as possible.
