Network services

ISS provide a number of different ways you can connect to the campus network. Once you are connected there are a number of services available that allow you to perform many network oriented tasks. The tasks you can perform are limited by use of the Virtual Private Network (VPN) or the campus border gateway onto the Internet.

The tasks you can perform over the VPN are limited because users can connect their personal machines to the network which is a primary source for computer viruses.

The Remote Application Service (RAS) is a thin client solution that allows you to run common desktop applications on your own machine even over a slow network connection.

Your ISS filestore can now be accessed using webfolders.

Technical details for mail and news servers as well as other network services are also available.
