Configuring network interface on Windows Vista
By default Vista is configured to Obtain an IP address automatically. If you have used a static IP address in the past this page will show you how to switch back to using dynamic configuration.
- From the Start menu open the Control Panel
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- In the side panel select Manage network connections.
Your network card should be shown as Local Area Connection.
- Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.
[ UAC will probably be ask you for permission to continue ]
- Under the Networking tab
- Check Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- Click the Properties button.
- Under the General tab
- Check Obtain an IP address automatically
- Check Obtain DNS server address automatically
- Click OK to close Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties
- Click OK to close Local Area Connection Properties
