When you login to OWA you will find an automatically generated message from "ISS Service Desk".

This message gives instructions on how to access the "Student Self Service Portal" (S3P) so that you can enrol (pre-register) with the University.

S3P uses a separate password to your main login name and password which you used in Step 1 to access your OWA email account. The S3P password will only give you access to S3P and no other campus IT facilities.

You will receive an email telling you what your password is and you will be asked to change it when you login to the S3P service. If when you come to login you have forgotten your password you can reset it by clicking the 'Having trouble loggin in' link.

Follow the instructions in the email: you will use S3P to pre-register yourself for your University course. This process is also described in section B of the Welcome booklet, which was sent to you with the letter from the Student Progress Service.

Finish pre-registration by printing the Registration Document which S3P provides for you: keep your printed copy safe (so that you don't need to print it again when you arrive here at the University). You will then be provisionally registered.

If you need more information about using the Student Self Service Portal, S3P, see the Student Progress Service website.

When you arrive at University, you need to get your University Smartcard, which will complete your Registration. Do this soon after you arrive, after you have settled into your accommodation.

The booklet from Student Progress Service describes how to get your Smartcard. When you come to the Smartcard issuing station, don't forget to bring:

  • Your S3P Registration Document (see above).
  • Photographic proof of identity e.g. a passport.

At the Smartcard issuing station, your pre-registration will be checked: if it's all OK, you will be issued with your Smartcard and your registration will be complete.
