The Outlook Exchange service is one of the University's largest investments in IT. It offers great potential for departmental cooperative interworking.
A disadvantage is that the software is extremely sophisticated: although you can do a great deal without knowing very much, fully effective working requires much greater knowledge: this is addressed by workshops given by the Staff Development Unit.
One of the advantages of Exchange is that it is being used increasingly by staff equipped with PDAs, mobile phones and other devices capable of interfacing to the service.
