RAS can be accessed via http://ras.ncl.ac.uk; we recommend the use of Internet Explorer for Windows users. Before using RAS for the first time you will need to install a client. Note that you need admin rights to your machine in order to install this software. It is advisable to update to the latest version of the client available from the RAS logon page where possible.
A direct link to the Windows Citrix Client can also be found on the RAS logon page.

Click on the link for Windows Users to download the plugin, and save it locally. Ensure that once downloaded you run the installation file to setup the client. Windows Vista / 7 users will need to right-click and ‘Run As Administrator’ to install it correctly.
Also please ensure that your add ras.ncl.ac.uk to your trusted sites within Internet Explorer else you may not be able to launch applications when you click an icon and will be presented with the dialogue below.

Once you are logged into RAS with the appropriate client installed, you just need to single click on the folders and applications in the Applications Box in order to open them. The applications look and behave just like they're installed locally - they appear as "seamless applications" - and populate the task bar whilst they are active.
If you are unable to install the Citrix Client on the computer you are using then you may be able to use the Java based client (providing your computer has Java installed).
Log on to RAS using your standard Campus Windows Logon Name and password, ignoring any messages prompting you to install software.
Click on the Settings button, then click on Change Client as shown below.

If Java is already installed on your machine then select Client for Java from the drop down list and click on Save, otherwise if Java is not present click on Deploy and follow the instructions on-screen.

When launching an application you will be asked to trust the Java applets (twice). Please select Always Trust.
