Web Publishing Support
Web infrastructure, development and support at the University is divided across two main functional units, supporting a wider webmaster community of local publishers.
The ISS Information Applications & Delivery and Middleware teams are primarily responsible for technical infrastructure, web applications
and hosting services:
- Support, maintenance and development of the University's core web infrastructure
- Hosting services for all official units on www.ncl.ac.uk
- Hosting services and support for conferences, research projects and research groups at the University
- The ISS website architecture
- Staff, student and society website hosting and support
- Database services for web publishers
- Applications and online tools such as blogs, wikis and single sign-on technology
- Development and support of tools for web publishers
Corporate Web Development, based in Marketing and Student Recrutiment, are primarily focussed on content, design
and information architecture. They are responsible for:
- The central corporate site
- Faculty and school sites
- Sites for official research institutes and research centres
