Windows 7 Clusters

Changes in Windows 7 Clusters

When you are using Windows 7 Clusters you will notice certain things are different. Firstly 7 uses a new Profile which means any application settings you had saved in XP will not be carried across to Windows 7

ISS provide a tool for moving data between your XP Profile and your new 7 profile called CMDInfo, this will enable you to migrate your XP favourites and Desktop to your Windows 7 profile. Please note this is a one way move, there is no way to move data from 7 to XP.

Secondly, there a few software changes. Later versions of popular software will be made available plus some older software has been removed. Please see the main cluster page which details the current provision.

Some older software has been removed, such as older DOS based departmental software, cygwin etc. If you find something missing please contact the ISS Service Desk (details below)

For any assistance please see the Cluster room advisors located in either the Robinson Library or the Old Library or contact the service desk on x5999 or it.servicedesk@ncl.ac.uk
