The University subscribes to the Educational Recording Association (ERA) Scheme, which licences the institution to record programmes from the BBC and IBA for teaching purposes. http://www.era.org.uk/
This licence permits University staff to record programmes within their department or in their own homes, providing the recorded material is to be used for Newcastle University teaching only.
We offer a recording service for any Free to Air (freeview) broadcast programmes.
Please telephone extension 7707.
Important note: The ERA licence does NOT cover the recording of satellite programmes (other than BBC or IBA), encrypted channels, on demand services (such as BBC i-player), Podcasts, or Open University programmes.
The Robinson Library stocks many Open University Programmes, and holds the licence for their recordings.
If you require an Open University programme recording off air, or a previously broadcast title to be purchased, please contact your Liaison Librarian. Contact details for the Liaison Librarians can be found on the Library's web site, who will make the necessary arrangements.
