Welcome to the University
This website summarises what you need to know about the IT services provided at Newcastle.
The contents (yellow menu on the left) are based upon the ISS 2011/12 handbook "IT Services for Students", which is handed to all new students when they receive their University Smartcard.
The website has ten sections, each highlighting an IT-based service and linking to more detailed information.
We recommend that you read through these pages in your first days here at Newcastle, so that you'll have a good idea of the IT facilities available to you.
Connecting to the Internet at University
You can login at any University PC using your Login Name and password (see the section about Login Names).
There are well over a thousand PCs in “computer clusters” around the campus, and at Halls (see University PCs).
If you have your own computer, you can connect it to the Internet via our campus network (see the Connect website).
