Your Smartcard is your University ID Card: you should carry it with you at all times.

(You don’t need to actually wear it – see below.)
There is a replacement charge of £10.00 for lost or damaged cards, so store your card carefully. For more details see the Smartcards website.
Smartcard issue is part of completing your Registration with the University. Most students get their cards in the first week of term, at the special Smartcard Issue location in the King’s Road Centre (shown at the centre of this map).
After the first week of term (“Registration Week”) Smartcards are issued at the University Libraries (see below).
It’s run jointly by ISS and the University Library: ISS runs the systems, whilst the Library issues cards and deals with customer enquiries.
Smartcard enquiries are dealt with at the Robinson Library or at the Walton Library (Medical School).
Or, you can email it.servicedesk@ncl.ac.uk (This is the best option if you have problems with access to buildings.)
Or, you can phone the ISS IT Service Desk on extension 5999.
You must not loan your Smartcard to anyone else, and you must not let others into Smartcard-controlled buildings. These are University Disciplinary offences.
