Changes to University Telephone Numbers

We have recently updated the University telephone systems and standardised the University telephone numbers.

What’s changed?

All University telephone numbers prefixed with 222, 246 or 248 should be dialled with the prefix 208.

For example, 0191 222 6000 should now be dialled 0191 208 6000

Don’t worry; the old numbers will continue to work for at least 12 months.

Exceptions

Telephone numbers prefixed with 241 haven’t changed. (These are mainly used at the Newcastle International Centre for Life, the Institute for Genetic Medicine and NESCI)

What you need to do

Please update your contacts and any literature or websites you look after which feature old telephone numbers.

The following action list should help to get you started:

Telephone numbers of individual staff

If you are not sure whether a number has changed please use the online University directory People Search to find the numbers of individual staff members.
