Hi, I joined the university in the summer of 2008 after graduating from Northumbria University, where I had studied Computing for Business. I'm enjoying the experience and challenge of working at the University and I am learning constantly.
Outside of work, I am a football addict, unfortunately this involves going through agony and depressing times supporting the shambles that is Newcastle United. I often play football aswell, whilst attending the gym when I can be bothered, and socialising with friends.
Main focus of my work at the moment is on the GRAND project (research.ncl.ac.uk/grand). Its all about Granularity, Audit, N-tier, and Delegation.
Alot of my time is involved in using Internet2's Group management toolkit Grouper. I've been lucky enough to present at both UK and national conferences about the use of Grouper, which has been great in making contacts in the access and identity management commununity. I also have been doing work with the open source data integration tool Talend to centralise data feeds throughout the University.
As part of University course, worked for Wansbeck District Council for 18 months as a web developer, which gave me my first insight into working in a computing environment. I have also had a part time role at Newcastle Building Society working within the credit control dept :)
Football, gym, tv (Dexter is now by far the best TV programme ever), football again, reading, cycling (planning to do the coast to coast in 2011) and also going on holiday is always fun :)
