Videoconferencing, why use it?

Videoconferencing is a technology which allows people to communicate and collaborate with one or more remote locations face to face and in real time.  Within Higher Education it can be used for many purposes including multi-site meetings, teaching and presentations, research collaboration and job interviews.

The benefits of using videoconferencing include:-

  • Reducing travel expenses and saving time
  • Allowing multi-point meetings from different locations and across time zones
  • Encouraging and improving communication and collaboration
  • Reducing the institutions carbon footprint
