Service Description

Delivering training on the Data Protection Act so that all attendees are aware of their legal obligations regarding the protection of personal data.

  • Can be delivered as part of the IT induction course for new staff, as a standard course or tailored for a specific audience

Users

All employees of the University who handle personal data.

Service Hours

Staff IT Induction courses are scheduled by the Staff Development Unit (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/staffdev).

Ad hoc and tailored training can be arranged, as appropriate, during the hours of 09:00-17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding University closure periods, depending on the availability of trainers.

Level of Service

Training will cover all of the information necessary to comply with current DPA legislation.

To attend a scheduled induction course:

All requests relating to this service will be handled according to the Request Fulfilment process.

User Responsibility

Attend a DPA training session. As much as possible, keep up to date with any changes to legal or University procedures.

Attend a refresher course every three years.
