We manage and support AV/IT systems in 200+ centrally bookable spaces across 25 buildings on campus. All supported rooms have large display systems installed (data projectors or large display screens) with the ability to project from either a permanently fitted computer (running the ISS managed desktop & a variety of software) or a personal laptop. Many rooms also have additional facilities including visualisers (document camera) and DVD or Blu Ray players.
We also manage and support two bookable videoconferencing suites on campus
We design all our AV systems to be self-operational and as user-friendly as possible. We also offer pre-booked one to one training on our systems or a basic overview of systems and technology via the Teaching Room Technology Workshop.
We do appreciate that sometimes, despite the best preparation, things do go wrong so we provide comprehensive and rapid remote and in-person technical assistance in the event of problems.
Ensuring that the rooms are fit for purpose is the cooperation of staff and students who use them. A document has been drawn up by the Centrally Supported Learning Spaces (CSLS) Team which outlines the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders and how the organisation of these spaces work - The Management of and Responsibility for 'centrally supported' teaching and learning spaces
If you are looking to upgrade or refurbish one of your school or faculty spaces and would like some advice or guidance regarding AV systems then we would be happy to assist. Please contact IT Service Desk on 5999 or it.servicedesk@.ncl.ac.uk in the first instance.
