Service Description

Consultation, advice and brokering to help researchers to extract the maximum value from centrally provided IT services.

Features

  • Direct advice and assistance with communication and collaboration facilities for research projects, quantitative analysis of data, research data management. In particular we are keen to discuss such requirements at the proposal or initial project set up stage.
  • Assistance and brokering in other areas such as software provision, IT infrastructure provision, IT training for researchers, video conferencing.

Users

Any member of University staff who is conducting research. The service is also available to postgraduate students but it is expected that they will be introduced by a member of staff.

Service Hours

Advice and appointments are available during normal office hours.

Level of Service

An initial response will be provided to any enquiry within 3 working days. Personal appointments are normally up to an hour in duration.

Request Process

  1. Contact the IT Service Desk on 0191 208 5999 or it.servicedesk@ncl.ac.uk to request a personal appointment for a general consultation.
  2. Specific questions should be sent by email to it.servicedesk@ncl.ac.uk including as much relevant detail as possible.

User Responsibility

In order to use the service effectively, a succinct description of requirements needs to be provided in a timely manner.
