Service Description

The provision of desktop PCs, software and printers for students, in an environment conducive to studying.

  • Over 1300 PCs in almost 40 locations
  • 24 hour access to some clusters
  • Wide range of software
  • A4 mono printers in all cluster rooms and A3 and A4 colour printers in some
  • Scanners in most cluster rooms
  • Some clusters are bookable by teaching staff

Service Hours

Cluster opening hours are arranged locally depending on building opening times.

Level of Service

All IT equipment is checked and maintained regularly to ensure it’s in working order.

All incidents relating to this service will be handled according to the Incident Management and Major Incident Management processes.

Request Process

Students:
To use the cluster facilities:

  1. Go to a cluster room (http://m.ncl.ac.uk/)

To buy print credits:

  1. Go to https://printing.ncl.ac.uk to buy online or pay by cash in the Robinson Library

Staff:
To book a cluster room for teaching:

  1. Book the room through Timetabling Services, see http://www.ncl.ac.uk/timetable/room.

Requests for any other aspect of the service should be made via the IT Service Desk on 5999 or it.servicedesk@ncl.ac.uk.

All requests relating to this service will be handled according to the Request Fulfilment process.

User Responsibility

Users must conform to the Rules of Use for IT systems.
