Service Description

To provide comprehensive media production services to the University.

  • Media production
    • Expert advice and guidance is provided during the pre-production stages
    • Filming can be scheduled either within our bespoke and fully equipped TV studio Studio or on location
    • Professional post-production services are provided
    • Delivery of media via whatever format is required
  • Radio Studio
    • Our on-site radio studio allows a local interviewee to connect directly to broadcast radio studios anywhere in the world
  • Media Training
    • We provide a comprehensive media training facility to University staff utilising our in-house TV studio and crew, playback facility and radio studio
  • Consultancy and advice
    • We offer consultancy and advice to schools and faculties within the University on any technical related AV & media issues

University staff wishing to use the service to enhance learning and teaching or to promote the University

Service Hours

08:30-17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding University closure periods.

Out of hours technical support is available but is subject to resource availability

Level of Service

We aim to respond to any media production requests with 5 working days of submission

All incidents relating to this service will be handled according to the IT Incident Management and Major Incident Management processes.

Request Process

All requests for any of these services should be made using our media production request form at http://www.ncl.ac.uk/itservice/digital-media/mediaproduction/.  Alternatively we can be contacted via digital-media@newcastle.ac.uk (ext 87707).

All requests relating to this service will be handled according to the IT Request Fulfilment process.

User Responsibility

Providing a production brief and taking a level of appropriate responsibility in coordinating resource during the production

Ensuring that risk assessment forms are complete in advance of any location filming

Ensuring that appropriate copyright clearance is in place if any pre-recorded material is to be used/duplicated.

Costs

There are generally no costs associated with using our media production service.  

There may however be charges for consumables or production enhancements, for example licenced music or expenses associated with location filming.  Any  requests for resource outside of normal hours will also be subject to labour charges and resource availability.  This will be discussed in detail and agreed with you during commissioning of projects.
