Service Description

To provide a range of digital media services to the University.

Features

  • Media production
    • Studio based or on location shooting with a full camera crew using HD recording equipment
    • State of the art broadcast standard editing facilities with experienced operators
    • Production of media onto portable media or digital formats for national or international audiences
  • Radio Studio
    • We have an on-site dedicated radio studio with allows a local interviewee to connect directly to broadcast radio or television studios anywhere in the world
  • Media Training
    • We offer a comprehensive media training package using our own TV and radio studios, full technical support and broadcast quality recording equipment.
  • Other services
    • We offer consultancy and advice to schools and faculties within the University on any technical related AV & media issues
    • We can record free to air (Freeview) TV or radio programs by advance request for University staff provided the recorded material is to be used for Newcastle University teaching only.

08:30-17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding University closure periods.

Out of hours technical support is available but is subject to resource availability

All incidents relating to this service will be handled according to the IT Incident Management and Major Incident Management processes.

Request Process

All requests for any of these services should be made using our media production request form at http://www.ncl.ac.uk/itservice/digital-media/mediaproduction/.  Alternatively we can be contacted via digital-media@newcastle.ac.uk (ext 7707).

All requests relating to this service will be handled according to the IT Request Fulfilment process.

User Responsibility

Providing a production brief and taking a level of appropriate responsibility in coordinating resource during the production

Ensuring that risk assessment forms are complete in advance of any location filming

Ensuring that appropriate copyright clearance is in place if any pre-recorded material is to be used/duplicated.

Costs

There are normally no costs associated with media production  There may however be charges for consumables or any requests for resource outside of normal hours.  This will be discussed and agreed during commissioning of work/projects.

Off-air requests are subject to charges which will be advised upon receipt of requests.
