Note If you are using Windows 10 and the Microsoft Edge browser, to get full functionality when using the Citrix client (Printing and File sharing) you will need to open RAS in Internet Explorer. To do this select the 3 dots on the right hand side of edge

 

 

and select 'Open with Internet Explorer'

if you are using RAS in Google Chrome, you will be unable to use the full receiver as Google have removed support for this type of plugin. You will need to use Interner Explorer or Firefox.

 

Click on the link on the RAS homepage to download the Citrix Receiver for Windows, then save it locally. Ensure that once downloaded you run the installation file to setup the client.

Windows Vista/7/8 users will need to right-click and ‘Run As Administrator’ to install it correctly.

After installation if you are prompted to enter your email or server address in the Citrix Receiver, click Cancel/Skip.

Once you are logged into RAS you can add apps to your personal ‘store’ by expanding the + menu and clicking on the app you require, or by using the search box.

 

Once added to your store you can launch the app by single clicking on the icon to open it.

To remove an app from your store single click on the X in the top left of the app icon.

 

The Citrix Receiver for Mac is only supported on 10.7 (Lion) or later. Users of 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or earlier will need to uninstall any Citrix clients already installed, then connect using the HTML5 client. You will also need to use Safari or Firefox to use the full receiver as Google have removed supprot for plugins.

Click Install and the installer should launch automatically, if it doesn't then it can be manually launched from your browser's download folder.

RAS can be accessed via http://ras.ncl.ac.uk without installing any additional software, this will use the inbuilt HTML5 Citrix Receiver.

Please note that the HTML5 Citrix Receiver does not support mapping of your local drives and printers. To enable these features you will need to install the full Citrix Receiver.

Applications launched using the HTML5 Client will appear as a new tab or window in your web browser. If you are experiencing issues with the tabs opening, please ensure popups are enabled in your browser for ras.ncl.ac.uk and ras-gateway.ncl.ac.uk.

As all applications will launch in a single browser tab you will need to use the taskbar within the browser to toggle between them.

Copying and pasting can be performed by using the toolbar.

The toolbar can be moved by clicking and dragging it up/down, or to the left and right sides of the screen.

 

Minimum browser requirements for HTML5 Client:

  • Internet Explorer 10
  • Safari 6
  • Google Chrome 33
  • Mozilla Firefox 26
