Standard AV equipment

AV systems installed in centrally supported rooms are designed to be simple to use and meet the needs of the vast majority of users.

We use standard equipment and controls which allows a consistent user experience and minimises support issues.

Teaching/presenter PCs

All our teaching PCs run the IT Service managed desktop so you will be able to access files on your filestore (H:/ drive or my documents) as well as using portable media such as USB pens or CD/DVDs

They all operate on Windows 7 and have the following additional software installed:-

  • Adobe Reader
  • Endnote
  • JAVA
  • Maple
  • Minitab
  • Microsoft Office 2013
  • Ombea
  • VLC Media Player

The software above is a 'light' version of what is available in IT Clusters.  Less software allows more efficient and effective management of the computers thus increasing system speed and reliability.

Please note that we can only install software that is available as a group policy.

If you require additional software installing on a PC, please contact the IT Service Desk quoting the name/location of the PC and the name of the policy that should be applied.

Management of Centrally Supported Spaces

Ensuring that the rooms are fit for purpose is down to the cooperation of staff and students who use them.

A document has been drawn up by the Centrally Supported Learning Spaces (CSLS) Team which outlines the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders and how the organisation of these spaces work - The Management of and Responsibility for 'centrally supported' teaching and learning spaces
