Standard AV equipment

Centrally supported spaces are provisioned with standard audio-visual equipment and supported by NUIT AV Services.  Systems are designed to be consistent, simple to use and meet the needs of the vast majority of users.  For information on AV equipment and support in school owned spaces please see here.


Standard AV facilities in centrally supported teaching rooms

  • Lectern (or teaching station) with:-
    • Presenter PC with a standard set of software
    • HDMI cable to connect your personal device to the display
    • Visualiser (document camera)
    • Touch-screen or push-button control system to allow easy user control of the AV system
  • Speakers to amplify any audio from the PC or your connected personal device
  • Digital display (this may either be a data projector or a large screen)
  • ReCap (the University lecture capture system)

Enhanced AV facilities in centrally supported spaces

Some centrally supported spaces have enhanced audio-visual systems.  Additional equipment may include:-

  • Dual projection; two digital displays which allows two independent sources to be displayed simultaneously
  • Wireless connectivity; the ability to use your personal device to connect audio and video wirelessly to the AV presentation system
  • Interactive technology; Equipment which allows enhanced interactivity with the AV system (e.g. touch-screen displays, digital annotation)
  • Mics; microphones what can be used with the in-room audio system
  • Assistive hearing systems; induction loops for hard of hearing
  • Videoconferencing; software or hardware videoconferencing facilities
